Free resource / competitor research

Competitor website audit checklist for small online stores.

Before changing prices or promotions, compare what selected stores actually publish. This free checklist helps you capture useful evidence without mistaking different products, shipping promises or marketing claims for apples-to-apples deals.

No account required to use this free checklist. The paid report is optional.

Step 1 / Choose your comparison

Start with a narrow question.

Pick one product group or one buyer-experience question, then select one to three publicly accessible competitor pages. A shipping-policy audit is not the same thing as a matched-product price audit.

PRODUCT

Match the real item

Record brand, model or SKU, dimensions, pack quantity, material, variants and availability. If items differ, label the comparison directional instead of calling one cheaper.

OFFER

Capture the full terms

Record advertised price and currency, promotion eligibility, shipping threshold, destination, handling window and return restrictions—not just the most prominent number.

EVIDENCE

Preserve the source

Save each source URL and the date and time you observed the claim. Separate facts on the page from assumptions about actual delivery or conversion rates.

Step 2 / Eight fields to record

A repeatable page review.

01

Product identity

SKU, model, size, pack count and relevant product differences.

02

Displayed price

Currency, base price, discount conditions and price timestamp.

03

Bundles and minimums

Quantity requirements, eligible variants, codes and exclusions.

04

Shipping cost

Order minimums, destination, free-shipping rules and exceptions.

05

Delivery wording

Handling versus carrier transit times; estimates versus promises.

06

Returns

Time window, eligibility, return costs and exceptions.

07

Buyer-facing messaging

Value proposition, trust cues, visible guarantees and sourcing claims.

08

Verification and limits

Live URL, observation timestamp, unknowns and product differences.

Step 3 / Read the numbers in context

Different shipping terms are not a price ranking.

As an illustration, the published Persnickety Pets FAQ describes $6 U.S. shipping below a $60 order, with free standard shipping from $60. The published Noxtelle store information describes standard U.S. shipping at $4.99 and estimated delivery of 4–7 business days. These are distinct stores and product assortments, not equivalent SKU comparisons.

Interpretation: Compare similar baskets, destinations and product characteristics before judging total cost. Published site claims are not verified transaction outcomes. This independent illustration is not a client case study, endorsement or rating; sources were reviewed October 12, 2026 and can change.
Step 4 / Turn observations into decisions

Three responsible next moves.

01 / CLARITY

Clarify your offer

If competitors explain product-specific timelines more clearly, make your own preparation and shipping conditions easier to find.

02 / MATCHING

Compare equivalents

Before changing your price, verify equivalent variants and the customer's entire delivered cost.

03 / MEASUREMENT

Measure on your side

Use your own store analytics, support inquiries and completed-order data to test whether wording changes help. External page claims alone cannot establish conversions.
